Sonu Sood’s Mumbai office surveyed by Income Tax department
Actor Sonu Sood is making headlines, once again. However, this time around, his philanthropy is the last thing being discussed. According to the latest reports, the IT department has surveyed six locations with relation to Sonu Sood, including his Mumbai office and companies, over suspicion of tampering with books of accounts. This tax survey comes days after Sonu Sood became the brand ambassador for the Delhi government’s mentorship programme for school students. After the actor’s hush-hush meeting with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the actor had reportedly refrained from making any comments when asked about the possibility of joining politics. For the longest time, ever since he began his philanthropic work amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the actor has time and again maintained that he has no ambition of ever joining politics, despite much speculation. It is also to be noted that this is not the first time that the actor’s house has been raided by IT officials. Back in 2012, the IT department had raided Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Nigam and Sonu Sood’s house after red flags were raised regarding their acquisitions. Sood’s house was raided then after the actor had brought a property worth Rs 30 crores. Meanwhile, on the personal front, Sonu Sood continues to be a beacon of hope for the common man with little or no means to fight the deadly COVID-19. Sonu has been reaching out to those in need through various platforms – social media, personal visitations at home, via phone calls, etc. Besides arranging for oxygen cylinders, ventilator beds, medicines, and injections, among other things for those fighting COVID-19, the actor has also taken care of hospital expenses in some cases. In addition to this, Sood also successfully managed to send lakhs of migrant workers and stranded students across the country, back to their homes. For his efforts, last year, the actor was conferred with the prestigious SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award by the United Nations Development Programme.
