There is an acute shortage of ventilators, medicines, beds, vaccines and oxygen cylinder supply in the country in current times as the second wave of COVID-19 devastates India. Amid such unprecedented times, many people are stepping up and extending help to as many people as they can, including Bollywood celebrities. Actors and famous personalities are doing their best to raise funds, donate to different foundations and charities helping COVID-19 patients and amplifying the voices of those in need of COVID-19 resources. Foremost among them is actress Bhumi Pednekar. She has been extremely proactive. Bhumi, who only recently recovered from COVID-19, has been sharing videos and messages on her social media accounts to help people. She also started a drive to identify plasma donors. Amid her present mission to save lives, the actress has lost two people from her circle to COVID-19. Taking to Twitter, she shared the news, writing, ‘Have lost 2 people we love from my immediate world in the last 24 hours, 3 super critical. I’ve spent my day looking for Oxygen & beds for the ones we can save.’ Putting up a strong front, she further continued, ‘No space for grief. Only action. Really can’t wait for this to be over. Please do your bit. #covidwarrior #CovidIndia’ Many of her followers took to the comments sections to leave her positive messages while expressing sadness over her personal loss. Actress Dia Mirza also replied, writing, ‘Sending you love Bhumi,’ along with multiple emojis. Bhumi recently mourned the passing of shooter Chandro Tomar, nicknamed Shooter Dadi. Earlier last week, Chandro had tested positive for COVID-19 and was admitted to a hospital due to difficulty in breathing. She passed away a few days later. She, along with her sister Prakashi Tomar, inspired the film, ‘Saand Ki Aankh’, which starred Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi. Taapsee, too, expressed grief over her passing and wrote a heartfelt note on her social media handles.
